My boyfriend Paul's band, the Parlor Mob, played last night at the Mercury Lounge. A good time was had by all. They have just gotten so good and are really taking their sound far. Sonically assaulting in the best way. My friend told me that they reminded him of the MC5 and I think i might agree with him. Now i'm deaf and a bit hungover in the airport waiting for my flight to Texas. Going down to write some more songs with my buddy Robert Harrison of Future Clouds and Radar. I'm excited. I recorded a couple new songs yesterday and i really feel like i'm finally getting a good body of work together for this new record. I spent the last couple of months freaking out that i wasnt writing enough and i sat down a couple days ago and went through all the songs i have and didnt even realize that I've written 30 new songs. its funny the things you dont see until you step back from it. i'll try to post up some crappy demos here soon.
In the meantime, the parlor mob are out on tour and i think you guys should treat yourself and check them out if they come to your town. they are such a good time. tourdates are here: www.myspace.com/theparlormob

demos!!!!!!!!!!
When I went to The Parlor Mob Myspace page I was thinking that surely you were just biased due to being involved with a member of the band, and that I probably was going to be disappointed. I'm pleasantly surprised, though; that is a damn fine band! I'm very impressed. I might go get their album.
I've been into The Parlor Mob for a while now (ever since they opened for a certain singer over a year ago).
They are a ferocious rock band.
I was at the Merc show too, and will have an *awesome* feature about them (and that show) real soon.
As for new music from Nicole? Can't wait to hear it all!
On a not very related note, I was in Home Depot yesterday (shopping for an impact driver) and "Cool Enough" started playing in the background. I'd already noticed that their background music selection was better than most but "Cool Enough" in the background? That's above and beyond! I don't know where they're getting their music, weather it's some service or home grown, but whoever is responsible is very cool. Also, it must have worked because they made a sale (I hope you get a royalty for that :-) ). Also also, had the thought that if I didn't already know who you were I'd want to.
I'll check out Paul's band and I can't wait for your new stuff!
30 songs!? I smell a double disc concept album coming on...
The Parlor Mob are truly amazing! For me, they were one of the best bands on last summer's Download Festival. I thought their set was far more impressive than The Killers'.. Pity that the interview I got to do with them for Radio 104.5 never got used. :(
Can't wait for the demos! If it were possible, I've been wearing a groove in my digital recordings of your other tracks -- purchased on-line of course!
